QinetiQ, formerly The Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA) is an Agency of the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) and incorporates the bulk of the MOD's non-nuclear research, technology  and test and evaluation establishments.

QinetiQ is one of Europe's largest single research organisations and with an annual budget of over £800 million sterling, is a powerful ally for pSiMedica (UK) and pSivida, its joint venture partner. Among its 12,500 staff QINETIQ employs many leading scientists and internationally acclaimed experts and its pioneering research and development this century includes the invention of the jet engine, sonar, liquid crystal displays (LCDs), carbon fibre, the technology for flat panel speakers, infra-red sensors, 1st generation mobile phone batteries and most recently the High Speed Naval Trimaran Frigate.
